AMEC Student Scholarship

 

AMEC (Association of Mining and Exploration Companies) is an industry association representing over 500 member companies across Australia. Our members are explorers, emerging miners, producers, and a wide range of businesses working in and for the minerals industry. AMEC is a strong, effective, and influential organisation that provides solutions focussed industry advocacy at national and state levels, and value and benefit to our members while building community support.

AMEC is committed to supporting the future minerals industry. AMEC is once again offering geoscience student scholarship/s for up to $1,000 to attend the Mines and Wines – Discoveries in the Tasmanides Conference. The scholarship is for geoscience student/s to participate in this important biennial conference that draws key companies from the sector.

 

ELIGIBILITY AND USE OF SCHOLARSHIP

 

The AMEC student scholarship is open to students who, at the closing date for applications, are enrolled in a geoscience course at an Australian tertiary institution OR have graduated from a tertiary institution within the last 24 months.

 

The scholarship is to support student participation in the Mines and Wines – Discoveries in the Tasmanides Conference - see www.discoveriesinthetasmanides.com.au. The scholarship may be used to prepare a poster for the conference, pay for travel, accommodation, conference registration or related expenses, as approved by AMEC.

 

HOW TO APPLY

 

To apply for the AMEC scholarship simply:

  • 1. Complete the AMEC scholarship application form.
  • 2. Provide your CV (no more than 3 pages) detailing your education (including academic results transcript from your University), work history and interests.
  • 3. Attach your answers (no more than 100 words each) to the selection questions:
    • What are your geoscience interests?
    • Where do you see your future career?
    • Why do you want to participate in the Mines and Wines – Discoveries in the Tasmanides Conference?

 

All completed applications must be submitted to Kerry.Atkins@amec.org.au by 23 June 2024. No late applications will be accepted.

 

SELECTION PROCESS AND PAYMENT

 

Applications for the AMEC scholarship will close on 23 June 2024 and offer/s will be made by late July 2024. The decision on scholarship offer/s to students will be made by a Selection Panel of Executives from AMEC. The decision of the Selection Panel will be final.

 

Payment of the scholarship will be to the nominated amount on the scholarship offer directly to the scholarship recipient. Payment will be made to the student’s nominated Australian bank account following provision of proof of purchase as approved by AMEC.
